|
|
Hi;
Where is the most effective location to install vibration transducer on a right angle PARAMAX gearbox being used for a cooling tower fan application? Currently i have several gearboxes with low frequency transducers located at the top corner of the gearbox (away from the input shaft). Unfortunately, vibration signal captured is not able to identify clearly the GMF (gear mesh frequency) and BPF ( bearing ball pass frequency), hence premature failure of the gears and bearings were left undetected. Appreciate everybody's input on the matter. Thanks _________________ Have a nice day... |

Dear Customer,
I will need the reducer serial number in order to respond to your above question. I await your response.

Dear Customer,
Thank you for the model# PX8065R2-RRV-18. However, it would be better if we had the serial number. Please let me know if it is possible to provide it.
Sincerely,
John Kauffman |

Dear Sir;
I'm not able to trace the serial no (on their GB's nameplate as well as in the manual). The GB was manufactured by Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd, Japan. Since i've been getting useful and timely responses (on my previous enquiries) from this forum, i thought i should give it a shot. _________________ Have a nice day... |

|
|
These are the points we would recommend. This captures X, Y and Z axis for the unit.
(Please provide your email address and I will send you the this picture)
If you wanted to get more specific, you would measure x, y and z at each bearing point (on the housing). This method would more likely catch all the bearing and gearmesh frequencies. A 1 point measurement may not catch all the points you seem to be trying to get. Using 1 point is typically used to measure the 'overall' condition of the gearbox. The diagram above is 1 step further and is intended for 'overall' condition of the gearbox. It might collect gearmesh freqs since this is only a double reduction unit.
Sincerely,
John Kauffman |
